Vera Virginia Peak, 81, of Homer, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 23, 2008.
She was born May 21, 1927 in Marathon, the daughter of Archie and Gladys Spencer Albro. Virginia was raised and lived for many years on the Albro Homestead on Albro Road in Marathon.
Many people from New York to Florida will remember Virginia for her bubbly personality, her love of laughter and pure joy of life. She will be dearly missed.
She had worked for several local businesses throughout her life including Wilson Sporting Goods, Ames Department Store and Ponderosa Steakhouse.
Surviving is her daughter, Sonja P. (Wayne) Ezick of Zephyrhills, FL; son, Kevin S. Peak of Alexandria Bay, NY; sister, Miriam Dunham of Willet; four grandchildren, Lisa (Dr. Mitchell) Hall, Kristin Ezick, Jason Sutton and Aaron (Elizabeth) Peak as well as her five great grandchildren, Derek and Victoria Peak, Lucas, Tanner and Braden Hall.
Virginia was predeceased by her husband, Sherwood E. 'Mike' Peak in 1993, two brothers, Spencer and Leslie Albro and a sister, Dorothy Baker.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday at the Donald L. Barber Funeral Home, 5016 N. Main St., Homer, with the Rev. Allan J. Ferguson officiating. Virginia will be laid to rest next to her beloved Sherwood in Marathon Cemetery on Monday at 10 a.m.
Virginia's family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 3 p.m. until the time of the services.
