      He received the Kings Medal & DCM. Also received 20 £ sterling with which he made is first payment for a horse.

      His obituary was published in 1963 in Nova Scotia, Canada. Roy Hutchinson - A prominent resident of Upper Musquodoboit died recently at his home at the age of 66. Roy Hutchinson, former municipal councillor and member of the municipal school board, was decorated for bravery during the First World War. He received the Distinguished Conduct Medal for service in France. Mr. Hutchinson is survived by his wife, the former Elsie Stewart; two sons, Donald and James; and five daughters, Hilda (Mrs. Philip Dean, Edith (Mrs. Douglas Higgins), Alice (Mrs. Vernon Stewart) and Judy, all of Upper Musquodoboit; and Lydia, of Saint John, N. B. Also surviving, one sister Jennie (Mrs. Henry Archibald), San Mateo, Calif., and 14 grandchildren. Two brothers and four sisters predeceased him. Funeral service will be conducted by Rev. J. D. N. MacDonald from Saint James United Church, Upper Musquodoboit, today at 2:30 p.m. Interment at Saint James cemetery. (Darres McCormick Collection; unidentified newspaper; undated.
