  	Nassau Daily Review-Star (New York) Friday 13 Dec 1946 p10 Mark Golden Wedding of Joseph Pearsalls [large picture of the couple] Four generations and a host of friends attended a celebration of the 50th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Pearsll last night when the couple held open house at their home at 1010 California place, Island Park. Mr. and Mrs. Pearsall were married December 12, 1896 at the Methodist Protestant church, Lynbrook, then the "Old Sandhole church."  Both were born in East Rockaway and established a home there after their marriage.  They maintained a summer home in Island Park and finally moved there permanently. Mr. Pearsall, 77, a former bayman, spent a good part of his life on the water, and owned oyster boats and a dredge.  He boasts that he knows all the surrounding waters so well that he could travel around them with his eyes closed.  He combined his bay activity with operating a general store and a variety of other businesses during the years. Island Park grew up under his eyes.  He likes to tell of the early times when the station was located nearer the channel and one had to walk up from the water on a bulkhead when alighting from the train.  There were no stores in the village then and food had to be brought from Oceanside.  In those days there wee only 17 bungalows located in Long Beach he added. Bicycling was the main recreation then and Mr. Pearsall tells of riding a bicycle from East Rockaway to Long Beach with his son William on the handle bars. Mr. Pearsall is a former Odd Fellow of the Rockville Centre lodge and is a member of the Junio Order of American Mechanics of Lynbrook.  Both he and his wife are charter members of the Community Methodist church of Island Park, of which the former was a trustee.  Mrs. Pearsall, who is 70, is a charter member of the Ladies Aid society of the church.
